Want a happy relationship? Canada is a good place to look: World Happiness Day (March 20th) saw the release of the UN’s World Happiness Report and, happily, Canada came 7th. But where in this happy nation can you find the happiest singles?
- The happiest singles in Canada live in Orangeville, ON
- St Thomas, ON and Collingwood, ON are in 2nd and 3rd place
- 8/10 of the happiest places in Canada are in Ontario
- Leduc, AB and White Rock, BC are the only non-Ontarian cities in the top 10
The study, which was conducted by premium dating site EliteSingles, used anonymous user data from 45,000 registered members to determine where Canada’s happiest singles live.
By aggregating how strongly its members self-scored themselves on a happiness scale, then looking at the average result by location, the dating company found the 10 best places in Canada to meet happy singles:

3. Collingwood, ON
4. Leduc, AB
5. Aurora, ON
6. Barrie, ON
7. Oakville, ON
8. White Rock, BC
9. Welland, ON
10. Burlington, ON
Orange is often seen as one of the more cheerful colours, so it seems only fitting that the happiest place in Canada is Orangeville, ON.
Second and third place also went to Southern Ontario cities – St Thomas and Collingwood. In fact, 8 out of the 10 happiest places in Canada are in Ontario, making it a great province in which to seek a happy partner.
If your hometown made it into the top 10, we’re confident it’s another excuse to keep smiling. If it didn’t, don’t be disheartened. As Monday’s report revealed, we should celebrate that, as a country, we’re amongst the happiest folk in the world. What’s not to be cheerful about that!
